Born in the USSR, he served with Soviet Special Forces. He was recruited for the Watchers by Kachik Berberian and was graduated second in his class of 97 in 1969.
He was a skilled marksman and spoke Russian, English, French, and Arabic. He spent his entire career as a Tribunal Guard.
In May 1996, he was acting Captain of the Guard during the trial of WatcherJoe Dawson. He was assigned to man the main gate to prevent entry of anyone other than designated witnesses on the morning scheduled for Dawson's execution.
He numbered among the high ranking Watchers shot to death by Jacob Galati that morning.
