Background Edit

David Blake was born in the year 1993, according to the Highlander II film screenplay. By the year 1994, the planet Earth required an artificial ozone layer, due to the intensification of man-made global warming. Connor MacLeod, recently having become mortal following his defeat of The Kurgan in 1985, turned his newly-gained powers of prescience towards the scientific development of a massive electromagnetic shield, which would protect the entire planet from the sun's harmful ultraviolet radiation.

This so-called Shield had the side-effect of condemning the planet to a state of constant night, a high average global temperature, and high humidity. By the year 2024, the years of darkness had caused humanity to lose hope and fall into a technological decline. The Shield had fallen under the control of the Shield Corporation, an entire multinational conglomerate established in order to manage the project, run and operated by a board of directors.

By 2024, the corporation’s young, ambitious chief executive, David Blake, was focused solely upon profit, and imposed fees for the corporation’s services. The ozone layer had in fact restored itself naturally, which meant that the Shield was no longer needed. The Shield Corporation was aware of this development, but chose to hide it from the general public in order to maintain its source of profits.

After the arrival of the Immortal General Katana from the Earth's distant past, Blake became involved in a plot to kill Connor MacLeod (Katana's arch-nemesis), a plot which ultimately resulted in the imprisonment and death of company founder and CEO Dr. Allan Neyman in a corporate overthrow, as well as Blake's own untimely demise when he questioned Katana's skill and leadership.
