Damon Case was born in Exeter, England in 961 according to his Watcher Chronicle, and was raised by a religious family. Case first died during the Norman Invasion. He then met the Immortal Bishop of Exeter, Leofric, who became his teacher. Damon became a champion of The Game. Friend or foe, good or evil, it made no difference; only the ritual of combat mattered. Damon took no pleasure, however, in what he felt he had to do. He believed that the Game was the only reason for his existence. When he took the heads of other Immortals, he prayed for their souls. He was not evil, merely unimaginative and inflexible.

In 1795, he met in an English tavern the newly Immortal Jean-Philippe de Lefaye III, a student of Duncan MacLeod. Case realized that Jean Phillipe was young, but he had challenged Case. Case refused the challenge at first, but the following day he ran into Jean Phillipe again and told him that he was now ready to fight, and they went outside. Duncan went to the tavern to look for Jean Phillipe and was told that he had left with Case. Duncan went to find his friend and discovered his body beheaded.

At the nearby church, Case was praying for Jean Phillipe's soul, Duncan arrived angry at the death of his student. Duncan challenged Case to fight, but Case said to return in the morning if he still wished to fight. Duncan did not return, realizing he had no real reason beyond his own anger.

In 1995 France, Case sought out the newly Immortal Danny Cimoli. He challenged Danny to fight, but Danny, was defenseless, having not yet learned how to use a sword, and he refused. Danny fled to MacLeod, who had been teaching him, and told him about Case.

Duncan went to talk to Case and told him to leave the boy alone, but Case had already made the challenge and would not revoke it. Duncan took the challenge, but the police arrived having been alerted by Danny Cimoli who wanted to save MacLeod.

Case and Duncan renewed their challenge a few days later. He did not want to fight Case, but the man would not leave Danny alone, giving MacLeod no choice. The duel ended with Case disarmed and MacLeod gave him one last chance to leave off, another refusal and his head fell.

Case fought with a late medieval arming sword, which has a more triangular blade, more nimble in hand but less slashing power, designed to find the gaps in plate armor. True to his faith, he had a cross cut into the pommel.
