Clayton Hobart was the son of plantation owner, Seth Hobart. In 1859, Clayton was the oldest of his brother and two sisters, and apparently inherited his father's brutal attitude.
One of his sisters was married to an immortal, Matthew McCormick. His youngest sister was made pregnant by an unknown individual, and when forced to reveal the culprit, she lied and pointed out a slave, Carl Robinson. Seth Hobart shot Robinson dead on the spot, but as a latent immortal, the man revived shortly thereafter.
After a period of training provided by McCormick, Robinson went in search of payback for his life in chains, Carl shot Seth Hobart to death. Clayton, charged at Robinson, and then Carl shot him as well.
