Delany was a watcher whose standard cover was that of blacksmith. He was skilled at metal smithing and had a talent with horses and livestock. In the course of his career, he fulfilled the following assignments:
1829 - 1832 Ilisa Stromberg
1832 - 1837 Duncan MacLeod
1837 - 1840 Grayson
1840 - 1851 Daniel Buckland
1851 - 1859 George McNulty
After thirty years of dedicated service, Delaney chose to retire, and the Tribunal elected that in addition to a standard pension, he would also be granted title to his smithy free and clear as a commendation for exemplary service.
