In 1942, during World War II David Leiner was a Jew confined to the Warsaw ghetto. His goal was to record all of his people who had money with a certain banking house in hopes of restoring their fortunes should they survive. He tasked his son to protect the list and "use this to restore our people."
He had an intense relationship with the Immortal, Alex Raven. They were killed together by the Germans during a raid, but Alex revived and took David's son, Max, as her ward. She remained true to David's last words; "Protect Max, and finish this."
