Gameplay[]

Highlandergame

Much of the gameplay will revolve around sword battles with other Immortals

Highlander: The Game would have been a third-person action game featuring a previously unknown immortal, Owen MacLeod, as the main character.

Certain encounters would have involved Owen using his body as a conductor for high-voltage electrical currents and/or jumping off of buildings. Though these actions could not kill him, he may still have been severely injured.

Over and above his ability to withstand otherwise lethal attacks, Owen would have been able to use certain abilities such as resurrection, chi balance, fireblade, wind fury, and stone armor, to name a few. Like any immortal in the Highlander franchise, Owen must wield swords to do battle with other immortals. Owen could also choose between different combat styles to defeat his enemies.

The game would have spanned up to 18 missions in which Owen would have encountered up to 77 unique characters. Most of these characters would have been Immortals. Some of these characters would have been previously known - Connor MacLeod and Duncan MacLeod were both expected to make appearances and Methos had been confirmed as Owen's mentor.

Story[]

Owen is forced to compete as a gladiator in ancient Rome

The story, written by David Abramowitz who was Creative Consultant (Head Writer) on Highlander: The Series, revolved around Owen MacLeod, ancestor to both Connor MacLeod and Duncan MacLeod. It began over two thousand years ago. And, similar to other Highlander films and media, the story would have spanned several timelines including Ancient Gaul, Pompeii, and finally modern-day New York City.

Owen's history had that he was captured and enslaved by Romans who forced him to compete as a gladiator. Owen endured his first death during this period. Methos became his mentor at that time. He taught Owen about The Game and how he and other immortals could only be slain by beheading.

Owen was pursued throughout his life by a nemesis. This enemy proved to be extremely powerful, one that Owen was unable to defeat. Owen learned of a magical stone, fragments of which were scattered all over the world. Throughout the game, Owen embarked upon a quest to recover these fragments and restore the stone in an attempt to gain the power to overcome his foe.
