Raymond Holstrom was a working man living in the Pacific Northwest in 1883. His son fell ill during a cholera epidemic, and he took the boy to the local doctor. The overwhelmed doctor, the only one in the area, was an Immortal, Gregor Powers. Depite any of his efforts, however, the boy died,
When he told Holstrom that his son was dead, the bereaved father lost all control and shot Gregor dead. He was immediately contrite for his actions, but Gregor still had to move on - the persona of the good doctor was dead.
