Trey Franks is a mortal working as a baseball manager, who has a tendency to ramble. He was in the minor leagues for ten years as a catcher.
He considered Carl Robinson "the best damn pitcher this team has ever seen" and wondered what they would do without him, when he suddenly became a fugitive wanted for murder (Manhunt). He confessed to the killing Robinson was accused of, and Robinson was delighted, thinking it was the best thing for everybody, he got his life back and Trey got his 15 minutes of fame.
When confronted by MacLeod and Robinson, Trey told them he had no life to throw away, that he was white trash, a joke. All he'd been his whole life was a zero, and that he wanted to help Robinson win, that Robinson had changed him for the better. He told Robinson there was no point to Trey Franks, and begged Carl to let him take the rap, "It's all I got."
After MacLeod and Robinson resolved the murder issue with the help of immortal FBI agent, Matthew McCormick, Trey was released from custody, and they allowed him to see Robinson who had not only survived, but told Trey he appreciated Trey's efforts on his behalf, leaving the man feeling that he had accomplished something.

Eric Keenleyside, who played Trey Franks, also played the Immortal, Dallman Ross, in the Season 3 episode of "Highlander: The Series" entitled The Lamb.
