'''Zachary Blaine''' was born in 1712 in Hamburg Germany. He was a foundling child raised by a family of performers in the court of Frederich Wilhem. As he grew up he learned how to become a performer being a Trapeze performer however, Zach died when his tightrope was sabotaged by a jealous rival. He later woke up after his death and became Immortal. He was found by The Great Drucilla, a performer who was a sword swallower, who taught Zachary what he was and how to survive.

In the 18th century, Zachary met Amanda and the two became good friends with Zach teaching her the circus trade and Amanda showed him that there were other ways to make money together they were an unbeatable pair of thieves working together for centuries. However their friendship ended when for unknown reason(possibly Zach killing someone, getting greedy. Amanda killed herself and framed him for her murder in 1985 sending him to prison. While in prison, he attempted to escape twice by walking out on the prison’s telephone wires. Finally during a prison transfer, Zachary finally escaped. After acquiring a sword, he goes in search of Amanda finally finding her in Paris where she was working with a traveling circus. He is about to kill her when, she offers him a deal, $10,000,000 from a job of stealing a book from a museum and the head of Duncan Macleod whom Zachary hated mainly because Amanda once mentioned that he was second to him which made him jealous. With the plan set, Amanda manages to have Duncan meet her at the circus that she is working in. Zachary later on meets Duncan after a show and the two men fight but the fight is interrupted by by the circus hands and, now that the man’s face is known, Duncan tells Amanda that she’ll have no problem, as the carnies can keep an eye out for him. Later, Zachary and Amanda meet to discuss their next move unaware that Richie Ryan is watching them(Amnada knows this). The two later meet up at the museum where they are a out to steal the book that Amanda talkied about however, Duncan is their and sets off the alarm. Their plan in tatters, Amanda and Zachary grab the book and flee, followed by Duncan. He catches up with them in a closed brasserie, where Zachary is about to shoot Amanda until Duncan disarms him. But Zachary would rather have Duncan’s head anyway and they start to fight, crashing out of the door into the street. Zachary fights a good fight, but Duncan manages to separate him from his sword. Turning, Zachary all but walks into the swing of Amanda’s sword, as she takes his head and his Quickening.

Martin was there to take the head of the Immortal named Pierre Segur, another teacher of Duncan's. Pierre decided to face Martin Hyde. Pierre gave Duncan a bottle of cognac for the both to drink, telling Duncan to wait for him in about an hour at the bridge. Duncan does wait for an hour, but it is clear that Martin Hyde took Pierre Segur's head.

Martin follows Richie to Marseille, France, where, outside the city, in the country side, Richie pulls over for gas and a coffee. Richie knows an Immortal is following him. Richie has a coffee, then goes outside and Martin kills a man and then drives off, framing Richie. Richie heads to Paris to see Duncan MacLeod, not realising that Martin Hyde is using him to lead him to MacLeod. Martin calls the police and Richie is arrested. Duncan finds a way to clear Richie of the murder charge by meeting Hyde on a rooftop, the police are waiting there, and they see Hyde's sword. Martin Hyde is shot by the police and falls off the roof, dead. Richie is then free to go. Later on that night, Martin awakes in the morgue, takes his sword and leaves. Duncan knows that Martin will come for him. Duncan has the same bottle of cognac that Pierre Segur gave him in 1700. He tells Richie to wait for him on the bridge and they will share the bottle. Martin Hyde puts up a good fight with Duncan MacLeod but Hyde eventually gets beheaded by MacLeod. Duncan and Richie then share the bottle of cognac.
