The Knight was the main villain of the Original script for the first Highlander film.

The Knight was later replaced by The Kurgan. Unlike him the Knight was not a savage, he was more a cold blooded killer. The Knight was a large man which used a broadsword in combat, he had an very cold voice. When he first met Connor MacLeod, he wore medieval armor, in modern day he wore Levis and a leather jacket. Before a beheading, he often shouted "There Can Be But One".

History[]

In the initial draft, he was a nearly invincible fighter, who killed many Immortals. Throughout his life, his movements were followed by several other Immortals such as Lacroux, Neuvich and Juan Cid Romirez (later Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez). The Knight would eventually kill them all.

While he was in Scotland he noticed an pre-Immortal from the clan MacLeod, and killed him on the battlefield, but before he could behead him, he was attacked by other members of the clan. The Knight was then driven off the battlefield. Years later, he went to the village where MacLeod lived, and entered his house. He didn't find MacLeod but his old enemy Ramirez. They fought, and he was able to behead Ramirez. Badly wounded the Knight hobbled away.

In the 18th century he was part of the French army, and in 1815 he would encounter MacLeod again, who was known as major Dupont at that time. He met him on holy ground, and congratulated him as he had recently killed another Immortal named Mulet. He had an short conversation with MacLeod, in which he assured him that he looked forward to the day he would kill him.

The Gathering[]

The Knight tracked down MacLeod, using immigration notaries in Liverpool, and birth records in Church Hill. MacLeod was living under the name Richard Taupin. On his way to find MacLeod, he beheaded a Bulgarian Immortal, Osta Vazilek).

MacLeod as Taupin was being investigated for the murder of Iman Fasil and another unnamed Immortal. The Knight found MacLeod at an cemetery in Felton, Delaware with Brenna Cartwright (later Brenda Wyatt). MacLeod did not have his sword with him, but The Knight attacked MacLeod with brute force. Before he could behead MacLeod, an elderly watchman interfered. The Knight killed the man, but in the distraction MacLeod and Brenna fled.

Some time later, the Knight beheaded Kahn, an old friend of MacLeod's. He then kidnapped Brenna, and let MacLeod come to him at the Jefferson Memorial. The two fought, and after a short duel the Knight wounded MacLeod. Before he could deliver the final blow, two policeman arrived and the Knight killed them both. Then he ordered MacLeod to get back on his feet, he would kill Brenna if MacLeod didn't do what he wanted. MacLeod got up and fought him, and the Knight wounded MacLeod badly, delighting in it.

Suddenly, Police Inspector Moran arrived and the Knight ordered him to leave, but Moran shot him. When Moran got near the Knight, he revived and killed him. When Moran fell, MacLeod attacked the surprised Knight and wounded him badly, before taking his head.
